Improving cheap B8 alloy cymbals
Here's a set of cheap Sabian B8's which I just finished hammering for an Italian drummer.

I can make a fast or dark crash, but I don't make "copies" of factory cymbals. They are all machine hammered, I do handhammering to create a richer and more complex sound.Into The Light a écrit : tu peux faire sonner ca genre "fast crash", dans le gout des K custom fast ou des signature fast ? ou il te faut imperativement du B20 ?
B8 will always sound a bit different and more focused than B20 of course, but with enough hammering it sounds great. I can make dark or bright sounds with it.
Well it's very simple, just pack the cymbal and send it to me. Shipping costs from Belgium to France are 26 euro. You can find the price for the work here:comment ca se passe si on veut t envoyer une crash comme ca B8 sabian ou autre de 18" pour que tu la marteles??

I was not asking for a factory-like cymbal
just to know if you can approach something sounding like those K custum or fast signature, because I know only the sound of the factory cymbals
so, for a 18" crash it's 60 + 26 = 86 euro? interesting, I may do something for christmas!
If I ask for a "thin" crash, I must provide you with a thin crash? or any can make the job?
If I remember, when asking you to rehammer a cymbal, you give up to 3 rehammering, if the sound file do not correspond to what we expect?

No, it can be a heavier cymbal.Into The Light a écrit :If I ask for a "thin" crash, I must provide you with a thin crash?
No, I work further until you are happy. You are probably confusing with Sabian's "Custom" service. They only try two times. And they won't make you an extensively hammered cymbal anyway. If I remember, when asking you to rehammer a cymbal, you give up to 3 rehammering, if the sound file do not correspond to what we expect?

I can tell you that what I am asking for my work only covers a part of my working hours. It's something I do out of passion but I do want some compensation of course.
Also on the prices of my cymbals I make very little profit.
Spizzichino uses very cheap Turkish B20 blanks that cost him perhaps 10 or 20 euro per piece, which he then hammers (partly by machine and partly by hand) and sells for 500/600 euro. But I don't want to work with Turkish blanks because Zildjian and Sabian B20 is much more strong and durable than Turkish or Chinese alloy. I think a top quality cymbal should not only be hammered very well, but it should also made out of the best and strongest bronze, so it doesn't break easily. But Zildjian or Sabian don't sell real blanks so I have to buy their cymbals, which costs MUCH more than buying Turkish blanks. Also I don't get any discount when buying cymbals.
A few years ago, before Spizzichino used Turkish blanks he bought cheap Chinese Wuhan cymbals (finished cymbals, not blanks) which he then rehammered into his own creations, just like I rehammer Zildjians, Sabians and Ufips. But his expensive "chinese alloy" creations were never marketed as rehammered Wuhans. Like you probably know, Chinese alloy (like Wuhan or Stagg) is not so pure or durable. The Turkish alloy he uses now is a little bit better but it still is MUCH worse compared to American or Italian B20.
I don't want to bring Spizzichino down (his cymbals sound great), but I think if you ask 600 euro for a cymbal it should be made from better quality alloy. And you should tell the people what your cymbals are made from.
