New light jazzrides and Perforation Trashes

Message par Johan VDS »

Just added some newly finished cymbals to my site.

A few light jazzrides, amongst which a 22' weighing only 1920 grams.

Also a few crashes and "Perforation Trashes". There's now a separate directory for the latter.

Check out the soundfiles here:

Here's the Extra Light Complex 22" Jazzride I made from a medium weight Ufip. Sounds very trashy and complex.

This other 22" Jazzride also comes from a Ufip but weighs 2280 grams, which is still fairly light.

And these are the Perforation Trashes.

The perforation cymbals sound great Johan.Good work !
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.

Here's a video of me playing a drumsolo:

http://jvds.byethost15.com/Solo_from_2002.rm

The video dates from 2002. I'm using my more rock oriented self-hammered cymbals. The drums and the single bassdrumpedal are ADAMS, the hihatstand is an old Pearl, the snaredrum is one I built myself.

Beautiful technique, loud drum sound, and an aggressive snare sound! You're a Gadd fan, isn'it ?
YES! That Great Gretsch sound!
So What?

Thank you !

I plead guilty :) Although I never met Steve Gadd he has indeed been my teacher.
I never took any drumlessons or music lessons anywhere but figuring out his drumming from LP's and CD's has really learnt me a lot about playing drums.

Back in 2002 (that's when this clip was recorded) I still used too many of his tricks :)
I play very different now although I still throw in a Gadd fill every once in a while when no one's looking...

The aggressive sound is really due to the very simple camera that was used. Everything sounds a bit exaggerated and distorted.
